“Money doesn’t buy happiness” – Someone who doesn’t have to worry about money
While it is of course true that money does not buy happiness, it is equally true that money makes being happy a whole lot easier! Having money means you don’t have to worry about the power being shut off, you don’t have to have fears that your mail is an eviction notice, and so forth. Everyone who has a lot of money will keep shouting to those below how “money doesn’t matter” while they sit in their yacht. It is easy to think that money does buy happiness, however, as you get richer you will start to realize the changes money has made to your life, and how money truly doesn’t buy happiness.
I have heard this a lot from colleagues, that they grew up in a poor area and when they eventually hit their mark and made all the money they could ever want, their friends were not so lucky. Feelings of resentment and jealousy were commonplace and it was not long before these people had to find new friends entirely! This is not to say that their old friends are bad people, but you have to realize that when you start living a new lifestyle your friends will likely change to accommodate this. Think of it like this – if you’re going to Vegas every weekend, how are your friends supposed to relate to your stories when they spent all weekend cleaning their garage. This unfortunate divide happens to almost every person who makes their riches, and it is one of the things that money cannot buy – friends.
Where you live
This is another thing about your life that will change when you make it, especially if you grew up in a lower income area. The fact of the matter is that the lower income an area has overall – the lower the quality of life is. Things like schools, police forces and roads are all paid for through property tax, so unfortunately this system makes poor areas have little to no funding while rich areas get all the funding in the world. This is bad for most people, but you can take advantage of this system by moving to one of the rich parts! This is one of the best parts of becoming richer – by moving away you are able to send your kids to better schools, you’ll have nicer roads and everything like that. This is one part of becoming rich that won’t make you happy, but will definitely make you safer, and make it easier to be happy.
How you eat
This is something that few people think about but it is one of the biggest factors to rich people being happier – what they eat. Gone are the days of your 3 am fast food runs, now you eat only quality ingredients and your nutritionist helps balance your diet to get to your peak. This is the best thing that money does for you, for when your body is full of nutrients and you get a lot of exercise, your mental state will almost always be better. Oddly enough, eating better food is probably the only way that money will make you happy.
So, young entrepreneurs, go shoot your shot and make your riches! Just remember that while money will solve some issues, it won’t solve everything and it might even create some issues of it’s own.
